{Man Yue}: a little passion from chinese tradition

Two weeks ago I was asked to make parcels for Man Yue.  What is Man Yue? It's the first month celebration of newborn.  This is a strong Chinese culture in which mom has to take 30 day home rest after giving birth (can't leave the house and has to be bundled up from head to toe, if possible not to wash hair too) and baby has to adjust itself to the new world.  Then at the end of the Man Yue, you suppose to celebrate.  People shave the baby hair and give regiment to make it grow thicker. The old folks keep the tradition alive with red eggs, home made glutinous rice and ang ku cake.  The young generation makes the tradition simpler with a quick order by phone or internet.

Here's my version of Man Yue parcel, a modernize of traditional culture.

Most common parcel consists of small deserts.  Don't be surprise if you receive this and a small cake and sometimes a full size roasted duck or chicken too.  For sure they will make my day when I receive one.   Please visit my sweet blog to view the cake I made for Man Yue.

It was fun to watch the different hats the guests wore at the wedding.  I am still intrigue on how to put these hats on.

{The ROYALS} : they wear WHAT?

in High Society event, in their exclusive designer clothing line....CARNATION was their first choice of flower as boutonniere.

Out of all fragrance expensive choices of flowers money can buy, Why Carnation?

Here is a little fun fact about Carnation:

'You can kick it, step on it, pick it up and pad it; and it will look like it has never been abused'

Brides seldom to use Carnation in their wedding due to prestige (I think) but using it correctly will make their wedding just like the Royals.

{Trump} : Inspired by and translated from

A flair with gold and crystal sparks ...

                                     where vintage meets modern ...

I love the color combination of white, gold and crystals.  It is just rich but the downside is you have to use a lot of it.
If you have the venue with pillars and gold crown moldings, you are in luck.  You just need to enhance the atmosphere, rather than creating it.

Above: Custom made labeling.  I used shiny antique gold paper, semi cloth paper with embossed flower print to cover the bottle original label.  The greeting was printed out with laser printer and said: drink and be Marry, cheers !!!.  Then our initials.  I glued a cherry blossom flower for the accent.

Above: It was too expensive to cover the whole wooden gazebo with flowers, no leaf.  Fabric was a much in-expensive.  The gazebo was supposed to be covered diagonally with fabric, but the wind didn't allow it to happen.  All together I used 9’ long strands of iridescent crystal and rose petal curtain, about 10 dz. of silk pink and off white cherry blossoms, 8 dz. of white dendrobium orchids and curly willows.

The most economical way to resemble Ivanka Trump's wedding cake is to wrap the cake with crystal strands you'll see in any craft store.   

Just like this cake but 4 times heavier with the crystal strands.

Skip the Gardenia if your wedding is outdoor.

{Trump} : Ivanka's Lavish Wedding

Inside a tent decorated by my favorite event designer Preston Bailey, Ivanka Trump said "I do" to Jared Kushner.

Sneak peak:
The infamous arc by Preston Bailey.  Heavy and fully covered arc with flowers only.  The white Wisteria hanging from the ceiling was a nice surprise to bring the outdoor ambient inside the tent.

Ivanka was wearing wedding gown designed by Vera Wang to resemble Grace Kelly's wedding gown. Most of her jeweleries were from her own jewelery line. {writer: Grace Kelly was an American actress and princess consort of Monaco}.  Bridal bouquet includes Vandela roses, gardenia and Stephanotis. {writer: Vandela roses were used alot in Donald Trump wedding.  Since then it set the trend on every wedding, including mine}

Not so good picture of the cake.  I see white Phaleonopsis Orchids, Lily of the Nile, Tulips and off course more of Vandela Roses.

The newlyweds shared their first dance as husband and wife to "This Year's Love" by david Grey.

As favors, each guest received custom Havaianas with the words Jared and Ivanka written on the soles.

{Trump} : Ivana's fantasy wedding

A Midsummer Night's Dream

The groom wore white and the bride wore pink and plenty of it.

The details:
"Finally" said Rossano Rubicondi after the wedding ceremony.

Two sons, Donald Jr and Eric Trump walked their mom down the aisle.  {writer: looks like she was holding Lily of the Nile round bridal bouquet. } She was wearing Zuhair Murad silk wedding gown embroidered with stars and flowers.

All male guests were asked to wear white, except her ex-husband Donald Trump.  {writer: Husband, Rossano was wearing a matching boutonniere: Lily of the Nile, a very delicate and dainty flowers.}

Wedding cake was Lambertz belgian chocolate mousse imported from Germany:  17 feet tall, 9 layers and weighed 770 pounds.  Plenty to feed about 500 friends and families.  The cake came with hand painted reproductions of Michael Angelo's angles.  {writer: The cake style is similar to Grace Kelly's cake}

Bright color flowers were used on centerpiece: hot pink roses and neon green Dendrobium orchids.

Invitations were made of linen and embroidered gold thread with gold color frame.

This was certainly a one heck of a wedding.  Madly extravagant.

Although I don't know her personally, I would have guess the style of her wedding.

Valentine's : {Butterfly Lollipops}

I was planning to make simple cake pops for Valentine's.  But I was in the mood for something 'Semi Homemade' lately.
I don't remember what key word I typed on Google, but these Butterfly Lollipops caught my attention.
They are adorable and affordable for Valentine's giveaway: candy and card in one.  How cool can it be?
Just like cake pops, these butterflies make great favor and Valentine's Day card that anyone is sure to love!

Well I know these are cute for kids but if you upscale it a little bit by using different paper material/ pattern, and Rocher Ferrero instead of suckers, then we are talking here.    

BUTTERFLY LOLLIPOP
Add personal flair with different color choices, glitter, or drawings.
You'll need: (make 4)
Colored paper or card-stock - 8.5"x11"
Wiggly eyes - 4 pairs
Lollipops - 4
Tape
Scissors
Glitter/markers/stickers/crayons for decorating

Directions:
1. Cut paper into 4 pieces (4.25"x5.5")
2. Fold paper into 2.
3. Draw butterfly wing as shown on picture.  For template, click HERE.

4. Cut out the butterfly and make slits for your lollipop.
5. Add some decorations and personal writings.
6. Insert lollipop and then glue wiggly eyes to the top of the lollipop.
7. Add a piece of tape to the back to keep the lollipop securely in place.
